Plans were to make our 50th reunion fun and memorable. And it was.

The class of 1959 held their 50th reunion at Dahgreen Golf Club. There were 42 people in attendance and 24 were classmates.

The event consisted of a bus tour of Chaska in the afternoon, followed by a banquet and program. Ralph Hanson conducted the tour via a yellow school bus, highlighting the schools, downtown, ball park, Firemen’s Park, and surrounding areas which have long given way to commercial and residential development since the days of 1959, when agriculture dominated the landscape..

Deceased classmates, now numbering four, were memorialized at the start of the program.

The program itself was emceed by Ralph Hanson, and he used whimsical references to some cultural and language changes based on the late humorist George Carlin.

Classmates from out-of-state traveled from as far as California (Ken Rein); North Carolina (Bob and Denise Peters); Colorado (Mary Keith McCarron); Oregon, Bruce and Chris Bielke) Wisconsin; (Sandy Larson Knop); Missouri (Diane Tessman) and others.

A few people who couldn't make it to the reunion ordered memory books. The book was put together over the course of a year by a committee of ten people, and features pictures of the classmate with and/or without family members. Text written by each person tells about what they do, and what they’ve done over the years since leaving school. Additional books are available and can be purchased from Joan Rein: P. O. The reunion was memorable, and gave an opportunity to reflect on and appreciate the many and varied backgrounds of our classmates.
